What the Oregon climate means for a Holland Lop

One of the easier climates in the country for a Holland Lop. Mild summers west of the Cascades and cool most of the year. Bend and the high desert east of the mountains get hotter and drier, so the advice changes depending on which side you are on.

What Oregon owners should know

Oregon is quietly one of the best states in the country to keep a Holland Lop. The Willamette Valley rarely gets hot enough to threaten a rabbit and rarely gets cold enough to matter either. Portland has excellent exotics veterinary care and an active rabbit rescue scene. The exception is the high desert east of the Cascades, around Bend and Redmond, where the summers are hot and dry and the advice looks a lot more like Idaho than like Portland. The heat dome events of recent years are worth planning for regardless of where you are.
