One

Tell us who caught your eye

Fill in the form and say which bunny. Arlen writes back, you ask whatever you want to ask, and nobody is in a hurry.

Two

Decide, then pay

Collecting in person means a $100 deposit to secure the bunny, with the balance in cash when we meet. Having one delivered means paying in full before travel.

Three

Collect, or we ship

We book the transport ourselves and quote you the exact cost before any money moves. For pickup we agree a time and meet in Bakersfield.

We are in Bakersfield, so California buyers usually collect. Everyone else has theirs driven.

Most Holland Lop breeders hand you a transport company's phone number and leave you to it. We book it ourselves, and we quote you the exact cost for your route before you commit to anything. You will never be asked to pay before you know the number.

It goes by road, in a climate controlled vehicle. We do not fly rabbits. A Holland Lop weighs two to four pounds and is a prey animal, and an airline cargo hold is a bad place to be either of those things.

The only places we will not go are Alaska and Hawaii. Everywhere else in the country is reachable.

People arrive with a preference and it is usually the wrong one. Most buyers ask for a doe because they assume she will be gentler. In practice a neutered buck is often the calmer, more affectionate animal, and he will not go through the hormonal spell a young doe can go through around four or five months.

Neither is a rule. Individual temperament beats sex every time, and we can tell you which of the current litter is bold and which one needs a fortnight to trust you, because they have been living in the house with us since their eyes opened.

So ask. If you tell us who is in the household and what you want out of the rabbit, we will point you at the right one, and sometimes that means talking you out of the one you first liked the look of.

If you are specifically looking for a Holland Lop buck for sale, say so in the form. Bucks are usually the ones people overlook, and they are usually the ones we would have recommended anyway.

An email address you can use afterwards. Questions once they are home are always welcome, and the ones in the first fortnight are usually the ones worth asking.

The honest part

Reasons not to buy a rabbit from us

A Holland Lop is not a starter pet. It is a seven to fourteen year animal that needs more room than a cage, more of your time than a hamster, and a vet who actually treats rabbits, which is not every vet.

They are also prey animals, which means most of them do not enjoy being picked up. If what you want is something that will sit still and be cuddled on demand, a rabbit will disappoint you and you will have fourteen years to think about it.

And they chew. Skirting boards, cables, the corner of a rug you liked. That is not a defect, it is a rabbit.
