Mini Lop Colours
Our Mini Lops come from imported European stock, so the colour names are German. Here is what each one is called in the United States.
Most of these varieties are simply not present in American Mini Lop herds. That is the point of importing, and it is why a Mini Lop colour guide written for a US buyer does not cover them. Every listing on this site gives both names.
The translation
| On the listing | US / ARBA equivalent | How close |
|---|---|---|
| Havanna | Chocolate | Direct |
| Japaner | Harlequin | Direct |
| Holländer (Holli) | Dutch | Direct |
| Otter | Otter | Direct |
| Magpie | Magpie | Direct |
| vm | Vienna Marked | Direct |
| Sallander | Frosted Pearl | Closest recognised |
| Thüringer | Sable Point | Closest recognised |
| Fox | Fox, tan pattern with white | Closest recognised |
Two of them are approximations, not equivalents
Sallander and Thüringer have no ARBA variety at all. Frosted Pearl and Sable Point are the nearest recognised names and they are not the same colour. A Sallander is a pearled body with dark ticking through the guard hairs. A Thüringer is a yellow-fawn body with blue-black shading across the face, ears and flanks.
We would rather say that than let you find out from a judge. If you intend to show, check with your club before buying on the strength of a colour name. For a pet it changes nothing: colour has no bearing on temperament, size or health, and every Mini Lop here is the same price whatever the coat.
