Getting a Holland Lop to Nevada
One of our shortest routes. Bakersfield to Las Vegas is a straightforward run and the rabbit is usually with you within a day or two. Reno is further but still comfortably inside a two day window.
Nevada is close enough that some buyers choose to drive to Bakersfield and collect. Worth considering if you want to meet the rabbit first.
What the Nevada climate means for a Holland Lop
Las Vegas is one of the hardest places in the country to keep a rabbit outdoors. Summer highs sit well above 100°F for months. A Holland Lop in a Nevada backyard hutch in July will not survive it. Indoors with air conditioning is not a preference here, it is the whole plan.
What Nevada owners should know
Nevada has almost no humidity, which sounds like it should help and mostly does not. A rabbit sheds heat through its ears and through breathing, and 108°F is 108°F whether it is dry or not. What dryness does change is that evening cooling is dramatic, so a Las Vegas rabbit with air conditioning and a stable indoor temperature is genuinely fine. Reno sits at 4,500 feet and is a considerably easier climate. Exotics vets are concentrated in Las Vegas and Reno, and there is very little in between.
